Who is organising Power of Place?
Power of Place is a partnership between Shetland Arts, Shetland Islands Council, Shetland Architectural Society and the Scottish Government’s programme of architecture and outreach activities.
Shetland Arts is Shetland’s lead arts organisation, it has built a local, national and international reputation for arts development and delivery built over 20 years of work and innovation.

The Shetland Architectural Society was established in 1988 and is made up of architects and architectural professionals in Shetland.
The Society’s Aims are to promote good architecture and architects in Shetland, to raise the awareness of both the commercial and public client of what architects do and the services they can offer and to promote the architectural professions.

Shetland Islands Council aspires to increase its population by 3000 people over the next five years. PoP will ask how architecture and placemaking can support the creation of a sustainable and thriving community in the islands.
Professional reperesentatives from planning, education and community work are members of the PoP steering group.
